Here is a good news for city athletes. Their long
pending demand of synthetic athletic track will be fulfilled soon. Apart
from it one modern football ground will also be developed on the
premises of Divisional Sports Complex, Koradi road.
Considering the second capital status of Nagpur, the State government has prepared a plan of ` 24 crore for the Divisional Sports Complex and out of that ` 16 crore have already sanction. This fund will be utilised for synthetic track and other works.
While talking to Lokmat Times deputy director of sports Dr Jaiprakash Duble said, " Out of `16 crore, we received `10 crore from the State government in the current financial year. The remaining ` 6 crores will be released next year".
Dr Duble said the funds of Rs 10 crore will be utilised for ten lane 400 metre synthetic track, football ground 400 metre practice clay running lane, internal roads, water supply and sanitation work".
Duble further said, " The work will speed up as we have got the fund in advance. The work in second phase will have to be completed within 18 months and for that the contract has been given to Sports Infratech and Private Limited through e-tender. The actual work will start next month."
Dr Duble said the divisional commissioner BV Gopal Reddy held a meeting with company officials yesterday and took the review of company's past works".
It can be mentioned here that the said company has laid the synthetic track at three places including Balewadi in Pune, Army Sports Institute and Infosys in Maharashtra. Apart from it, the company has completed the work at Netaji Subuash Training Institute, Patiala, Chandigarh and Haryana.
Mr Duble said one committee appointed by divisional commissioner will visit some places soon.
